The Tommasini X-Fire is a modern masterpiece of steel fabrication.

The X-Fire is a road bike frame built with Columbus XCr tubing, perhaps the highest expression of stainless steel tubes available on the market today.

While that seems like a bold statement, it is well supported by the characteristics and methodology employed to create this remarkable tube set.

XCr is the result of extensive research by Columbus:

The “jewel” of the Columbus tube sets

Seamless, drawn from a billet

Triple-butted with walls as thin as 0.4mm for reduced frame weight

Special shaping and manipulation of tube profiles to achieve stiffness or compliance where necessary.

Outstanding mechanical properties

Highly weldable

Exceptional corrosion resistance

This is achieved starting with a solid billet, which is machine perforated and cold drawn repeatedly to achieve the desired wall thickness.

A benefit of the proprietary Columbus chemical composition of this new alloy, provides a grain structure that is not altered by welding during the frame’s construction.

The artisans at Tommasini have chosen the “W” profile, from the various options that Columbus offers for the XCr tube set range, which uses a square oval-type shape that is rectangular and offset 90° at each end. This provides the best interface with the head tube and bottom bracket shell which have different requirements.

There are 22 sizes available, stock, however, it is also available made to measure for riders with specific needs.

There are a vast array of options available to ensure that your Tommasini is a one-of-a-kind bike built only for you.

The X-Fire can be configured for either cable or electronic actuated drive trains, as well as internal routing.

Additionally, clients can choose between conventional rim brakes or disc brakes.

The frame is polished to a near-mirror finish.

Graphics are laser etched right onto the stainless steel tubes, without the need for paint.

However, custom options allow for a variety of paint options if a client chooses. Additionally, custom design elements can be laser etched directly onto the frame.

Our design team will work directly with you to ensure we understand your needs which will then be presented in a detailed report which will be provided both to you as well as to Tommasini.

One of the remarkable things about stainless steel is the amazing ride quality, which has a combination of comfort and stiffness, vibration damping but also liveliness.

Yet another compelling quality of stainless steel is the fact that it is chemically “noble” and nearly impervious to galvanic corrosion.

That potentially makes it what we call a “forever bike”.
